Song Recommendation!!!

Its time for some music. I have been wanting to update my blog but nothing much to update about, also, I have been lazy. Time for an entry and I am going to recommend a song! Its title is "歡樂今宵" by Leo Ku (古巨基). If I am not wrong, this song has a history of 10yrs and it was a theme song for a movie. Its a canto song, which makes it even nicer! And... I love it! My boss at Echo was playing it while I was teaching, at first I thought Simin was playing it. When I heard it, I was immediately captivated. Perhaps also because the song was played through speakers which had good effects. Music is just amazing!

The melody of the song stirs up your emotions, or well, at least for me. Perhaps on a sad day when I listen to the song, I might tear. :) The verse isn't that captivating but when it comes to the chorus, it all begins. When it transits from a C to E chord... the chord progression, melody that is written is just... beautiful. The songwriter is 黃丹儀. She wrote other songs like (有你真好 by 范瑋琪/ 楊丞琳, 多遠 by 張玉華) impressive. I really wish to write good songs... Besides the melody, Leo Ku's voice makes it even more perfect. Indeed he is a singer with a great voice. How nice is it to be blessed with a good voice... In my opinion he has a strong voice, a nice tone (not too high, not too low) and great control. Minhui asked me some time back who would I like to sound like. And I think now I have found the VOICE. It would be nice to sound somewhere near Leo Ku. Ha... If only...

Now, I can't wait to land my hands on a Leo Ku's album with the song. A new purchase to be made. Give it a listen and tell me how it is... :) the link on youtube is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHHkHcbnL6E

Enjoy!

Friday Lunch

I had lunch at Yogi Hub, near Tekka mall. They serve organic food that tastes great. Introduced by Diya. I have been there for about 4 times, and I love their food. I was taking pics of their food until I was stopped by the waiter, cause we are not supposed to take pics. :( I was trying to help them advertise man. What a waste. Below are a few pics.

Monkey Business!!!

On Sunday, I took the public transport to church. On reaching the bus-stop, I was greeted by 2 foreign 'things'. There were 2 monkeys at the bus-stop! They rummaged through the rubbish bin to look for food and made a mess out of it. I didn't expect to see them... It isn't a very pleasant sight. In fact, it was kinda intimidating. :( Still, I managed to snap some pics of them.

Monkey Business in pairs...

The monkey took out the plastic bag with a lemon...

He reached in for the lemon and chewed on it. Yucks!

Naughty monkeys and the mess made...

Quick Updates...

Firstly, my performance on Saturday did not proceed due to the weather. It was a little disappointing 'cause I missed the chance to perform together with my 'qian bei' and we practiced hard for it. Hahah... Nevertheless, I took it easy. There should be another chance! hahah... Anyway, thanks to all the people who wished me, came down and almost came down. Thanks Helena, Jonathan, Matz, Rochelle and Alvin. Although things did not go as planned, good things came out of this 'performance'. I have got to know Simin, Minhui and Wendy better... and thru it, I got to know Wendy. :) Thank God!

Secondly, I went to dye my hair on a Friday. That explains why I said I have become an 'ah beng'! I did not plan for it to be so bright and golden under light. Some responses were... "You look 'ah beng' from behind!", "you look half and 'ang-moh' ". At first I wasn't used to it, but now, its getting better. Whatever the case, at least I have done what I always wanted to! No more procrastinating! Below are some of my pics after the 'dye' and at the grounds of the performance venue.

We ended up eating instead of singing... A pic together with 'Wang Da Jie'

A pic with Wendy MAMA! (Minhui said we look like 'mu zi' ... mother and son)

Wendy suggested taking pics with my tee as the background! She is hilarious!

A background pic of my tee (Mr Happy) and... Simin laughing

Post-NDP carnival...

Event Name : Carnival @ Marina Bay
Date : 18 August 2007
Time : 12pm-12.15pm
Venue : Marina Bay floating platform

My next performance is this Saturday. Although it is only a 15mins slot, but I will cherish it and make full use of it. I hope I will do a good job. I am glad that I have this opportunity, especially performing with Wang Dajie (Minhui), Simin and Wendy. Its my privillege. :)

Rehearsals have been fun! I just came back from a rehearsal and I laughed like crazy! Wang Dajie and Wendymama are so hilarious! I cannot stop laughing especially at the expression of Wendy when Wang Dajie and Simon hug each other. Wahahha! Anyway, it was fun being around them. It was also nice singing the songs together. I like our version of '小人物的心声', a more toned down and acoustic version. Simin... great job! Hope we can do a recording and keep it as a memory. :)

After rehearsal, we went supper. Nice food and recommendation by Wang Dajie and Simin. They have always told me about the place but I have not had the chance to patronise the stall. Finally did today. Not bad. We had 'fishhead steamboat' and 'beer pork ribs'... I think. I would not mind going back there. Recommended place for supper. It is near... my music school, the area of arab street and beach road.

The girls enjoying and grooving to the music.

Funny expression of Wang Dajie...

Reflection... Simin looks... stoned yet she is smiling happily

The group for this saturday's performance.

Playing the Game...

Rules of the game: Each player of this game starts off with ten weird things or habits or little known facts about yourself. People who get tagged must write in a blog of their own ten weird things or habits or little known facts as well as state this rule clearly. At the end, you must choose six people to be tagged and list their names. No tagbacks.

1) I was never a good student and in fact, a notorious student when I was younger. Teachers started calling my parents since I was Pri 3 to complain that I am too talkative in class! That continued to be a yearly event till Pri 6. I also bullied a boy on my school bus till he cried, complained to his mother and I ALMOST got CANED! Thankfully that did not happen. Since then, I am a change MAN!

2) I used to learn Taekwando when I was younger and I had 2 double belt promotions! Ain't I good? But that isn't what is shocking. Perhaps cause I was 'skilled' then; I once kicked my friend's arm during an argument till his arm fractured and had to be bandaged for a month. :( Good thing he has since recovered... The argument then was about whether the lift should go to my house first or his house. The both of us stay at the same block.

3) I am wearing spectacles now because of my own stupidity. Back then I used to think that wearing spectacles was so 'cool' and 'fun'. Thus, I told my Mum that I could not see clearly and needed and pair of specs. When in actual fact, not. The rest is history.

4) Most people fear loneliness or the fact that they have to do things alone. It works otherwise for me. At times, I prefer being alone, doing things on my own. The freedom that I would have from not having to entertain anyone or wait for anyone is what I enjoy. To date, I have watched 3 concerts alone and enjoyed. Gone shopping on my own. And... I used to go to esplanade to listen to CDs provided by the library. I loved that. :)

5) I am old at heart. For those who know me, this is no surprise. :( I love to listen to old songs. Especially by Eric Moo... Wahahha. He's my favourite singer. A singer from the 80s-90s. He is still singing now, but, rare. Still, I love his songs and other old songs. Like old canto songs or Xinyao. I am like an old man trapped in a young man's body.

6) I love singing! I really do... However, I know my voice sounds horrid. :( One thing that I do to TRY and improve my singing is to record my singing down. And, I actually do that quite often! Hahaha. I used to use my MD player to record until Zijie lost a component of my player! Nowadays, it is either my mp3 player, handphone or camera. I also use it to record melodies that run thru my head.

7) Things that are not of the norm appeal to me. Things that are '冷门'. For example, I like songs that are not the 'hits', it is those other tracks in the album that appeal to me. When I was younger, everyone liked 'Red ranger' or 'Black ranger' in 'Power Rangers'. For me, I liked 'Blue ranger' simply because no one else liked him. He is known to be not so cool and nerdy. People like to shop and hang out at Orchard. I don't. I prefer City Hall!

8) I have 2 good friends that are like sisters to me. They are namely Frances and Yilin. From them, I learnt a fashion 'skill'. They taught me not to wash my jeans to often. Apparently, it is to retain the colour and resistance of its material. So now, I sometimes wear my jeans 10 times without washing them. I make sure they are wearable though. (A taiwanese singer was had a jeans he hadn't washed for so long that it could stand on its own) No worries, mine has not reached that stage.

9) Another reason why I like being alone is cause I can do things without any pressure. I like to blast the music while driving alone. Sometimes, I would clap, move and groove to the music! I would think my movements are quite exaggerated. However, I make sure I am at the traffic light and there are no cars around me. It usually happens late at night... maybe thats when I go FRENZY. (The songs aren't those found in clubs... it can range from recent songs to... chinese songs from the 80s, xinyao)

10) Lastly, I have a super flexible thumb that I can push all the way to the back of my wrist. Many of you have seen it. For those who haven't, you could request to see it one day. I would even let you push my thumb and feel its FLEXIBILITY.

Finally ended. How much do you know about me? Now 6 people to arrow...

1) Wong Wan Ping
2) Ng Chai Yong
3) Kelvin Ching
4) Wang Min Hui
5) Liu Simin
6) Chuah Sun Quan

Supper Buddies!

From Left to Right... (Isaac, Jonathan, Caleb and Joel)
Buddies for life!

Our wide spread of Hokkien Mee, Fried Oysters and Popiah...

And... Satay! Nice! Feeling hungry!!!

Went for a 'sudden' supper with my buddies on a friday night. It was really UNPLANNED! Ha... but I like such arrangements. Just do it without thinking. We are spontaneous!

Initially went out with some church peeps for dinner and headed home thereafter. 1hr after I was home, Isaac called to ask us out for supper. I was so reluctant. But, Jon agreed! And so, we met up. Despite the fact that we were already home. Despite the fact that Joel had to come down from Woodlands to Newton. :) We should have more of these unplanned activities. One of these days, we should call up one another and say, "Want to go Japan tomorrow?" "Ok!" If that happens, then we would be the most spontaneous bunch of people.

Besides the meeting up, we feasted again. 2 words to sum us all... Spontaneity and Gluttons. We just eat and eat and eat. But, I love it! Food!

Tribute... to the birthday boy. Happy Birthday!

Happy 25th Birthday Dan Yan...

Birthday "boy" blowing his candle.

Alright, since I was the camera man of the day, decided to post the pics so that Daniel can 'kop'. Or perhaps, some other people might want to 'kop' as well. I didn't know that it was Dan's birthday on friday, 10th Angust. Met up with Jesse, Yilin, Jon, Dan, Isaac for dinner. I thought it was just an ordinary dinner. True enough it was, but it was Dan's birthday also. I guess to everyone, birthdays do mean something regardless of age! Hope Dan enjoyed our companionship and 'mini-celebration'.

I have known Dan for... 9yrs? At least I've known that he existed for 9yrs. Haha... Can't exactly remember when was the first time I saw him. Just remembered that he would sometimes pop by my estate... not to look for me though, but to look for Karen. Hahah... Scandalous! Those were the days... And they had to look for me to borrow my bicycle.

My second encounter with Dan was when he became my cell leader. Cell leader of T'sidkenu. I was 16 then. How time flies... Hahah... And till now, Dan is still a cell leader and I think, he is very much well respected and a man of God. Way to go! Thanks for the time and effort spent as a cell leader to me.

Now that he is 25, I wish him all the best in his endeavours and may you continue to grow in wisdom and serve the Lord! Indeed he is blessed by God! And to many of us, he is very eligible! Sporty, outspoken, good singer, man of God, full of leadership skills, understanding... etc etc. Girls... Look no further! Wahahha...

Whatever the case, he is a dear friend to me... If I had known that it was your birthday, you would have gotten a present! Hahah... Hang out with us more. Tata!

errands, errands and more errands...

I realise that I have many things to do. Not important issues but things that I would like to complete! cause... I have been procrastinating for too long! For the saying goes... "Procrastination is the theif of time" how true it is...

Good thing is that I managed to complete 2 tasks today. I installed Microsoft Office and fixed up my printer. :) For a third accomplishment, I finally added links to my blog! I have been wanting to do that since I was in America. Imagine how long ago was that.

So with that said, I hope to do whatever comes to my mind and no longer procrastinate. Hard to achieve but I will strive. Other stuff I would like to do...

1) make my blog more complete (nicer layout, more links, music... etc)
2) be more diligent in my piano practice
3) learn songs that I like... (eg... some canto songs or songs on the piano)
4) have a more disciplined exercise routine
5) read the bible at LEAST 5 times a week
6) be diligent with my studies

etc etc! Lord, please grant me the discipline...

Busy Day!

08 August, the eve of National day. It was a fully packed day for me. A nice and fruitful day.

The day began with me meeting up with my OG-mates, my SIM friends at east coast to roller blade. My first outing with them. It was fun and relaxing. I love to go to east coast on a weekday because there aren't many people. Thank God for the good weather that. I think I became a little 'tanner'. It was also great that the 7 people who turned up all knew how to blade, quite a feat to find a whole group who knows the skill. I just thank God for these people I met... New people in my life that have been a blessing in one way or another. Thank God that I have people to go lectures with. I am not a loner! Wahahah... On my part, I hope to be a blessing to these people as well. :) More outings!

Straight after blading and lunch, I had to head back to school for lessons. Together with Joys and Ferlicia, we rushed down. Managed to reach school just about time and had my Economics lecture that is 3hrs, with a break in between. I am glad that the lesson was interesting and I understood the lecturer. I also managed to stay awake through the lessons, it was only at a small part of the lecture that I felt very tired. I hope to have a breakthrough in my studies!

Next... After lessons, it was dinner time and I drove down to NUS to pick Mr. Grumpy to meet the 2 other guys, Jon and Isaac at Vivocity. We wanted to have some retail therapy but did not manage to do so. Had dinner and walked around. I realised I haven't really walked around and shopped for sometime... at least not in Singapore. It felt like a weird combi when we met up cause we were all dressed differently! Jon was in office wear, I was in my casual wear of tee, shorts and slippers, Isaac and Joel in causual wear. Ha... Jon said that he was going out with BOYS. Indeed... Being 3-4yrs older than us, that makes him some kind of older brother. In case you didn't know, Jon is quite a good 'investigator' as well. Joel and I actually forgot where I parked the car. Sadly, we spent 30mins trying to find the car in big big Vivocity. It was thanks to Jon that asked us questions that helped to lead us back on track. Ha... I am forgetful.

Mount Emily... Ever heard of it? That is where we headed to after that. The initial plan was to have deserts there but in the end, we ended up having drinks. The desert place was closed. We shall go there some other time. Mount Sophia is actually up some 'ULU' place but I liked the place we went too. It isn't too crowded, it has a nice ambience, nice drinks and, you can hear your friends easily. A nice place to chill. Jon really treated us like 'boys' and recommended some drinks and treated us. Thanks Jon! We had some interesting conversations and it was just nice chilling out. I liked the place. If I am not wrong, the place is called 'wild oats'. :)

Pics to beautiful my blog...

Crayfish Ramen! @ Ajisen

New found friends! OG2... Superman! + Chee Boon

Food from 'Wild Oats'. Parmesan Chicken.

Wasabi Prawns. This is nice!

My drink for the night :) I liked it!

That marks the end of my day. I really long entry again. I should learn how to write lesser next time. Till then, tata! Take care my friends!

highlights of my weekend...

Played tennis on saturday at my place. People who came included Cyrus, Joel, Algene, Quany and Rochemochi. Sadly, tennis isn't an easy game to play. However, if you're able to play it, it'll be very fun! I am motivated and determined to play the game well! We shall have more tennis sessions... Cyrus brought his racket to church and it caught Eng Kwang's notice, apparently, Eng Kwang and Chloe plays often. Maybe we can arrange a game together... :) (Thanks to Xuan for staying up late to lend me her rackets)

It was Festival of Praise '07 on saturday evening... I think the last FOP I went to was 6years ago. Its been really quite some time. And now to think about it, I wonder where I have been for the past 6years. Anyway, FOP was great for me... It was a refreshing experience and a wake up call to seek God in a much more fervent manner. Many a times we know the truth and basis of everything but we tend to forget and sway away. Well, the Word of God stands when everything falls apart. The speaker spoke about God and his love for us. If things are not going our way and we're troubled, doesn't mean that God doesn't love us and that he wants to harm us. Indeed, God will make a way and trials and tribulations are only meant to make us stronger and focus on God even more... :) I have a long way to go... Perserver!

Besides the message, the music was good too. Singapore Indoor Stadium has got good sound systems. Don Moen and Delirious were the guests. Personally I preferred Don Moen. Again, perhaps I'm an old man at heart. I especially liked the song 'God is good'... the lyrics spoke to me and the 'country music' was good... and so were the solos! I am inspired to improve myself to play the piano well! Don Moen's violin solo was good as well... For Delirious, I particularly like the lead singer's voice, its got a deep and nice tone. Their songs are quite alternative to the normal Christian praise and worship songs, they have their own style... but whats most important is that it glorifies God. :) It is great to see such talented and anointed people serve the Lord...

Moving on, I had my first keyboard lesson teaching Daniel and Ereen. Just want to tell them that it was nice teaching them and they have the potential! To Daniel: You're not that bad. Don't keep on thinking you've got no talent or whatsoever... I definitely wouldn't stop teaching you if you want to learn. Hope the both of you will be able to learn something! :) I am honoured to be able to teach the both of you. Thank God.

Finally, I had my first practice for the 'post-NDP performance'. It was fun! Minhui, Simin and Wendy are such talented people... They are also very experienced and have the 'mo qi' :) Its really my honour to be able to perform together with them. Really hope we would give a good performance on that day. I enjoyed myself cause they are a fun bunch of people to be with and, I enjoy the songs we are performing! Wahahha... Xin yao songs again. Old man Caleb... Also, its acoustic style and we're doing a medley! Fun fun fun! Simin has lots of character when she plays the guitar. Indeed its rare watching a girl play the guitar so well... and, she does it great. I was just watching the way she strums and plucks on the guitar. 有性格! Needless to say, Minhui and Wendy are great singers. Stressed! I exceptionally like the song '让全世界起舞' by '黎沸揮'. First time introduced to the song... and, its nice. :) especially listening to Minhui singing it.

Alright... there goes my weekend and the weekday has arrived. However, I am not dreading to go back to school. In fact, I am looking forward. Be postive looking! God bless!

thoughts...

Caleb is thinking...

Some people's destiny seemed so fixed. They seem to know what they want and where they are heading. Some are talented, gifted. I wish I was one of those.

Recently, I found out something about myself. I realised I am afraid of failures. Failure when I have put in a whole lot of effort yet, the result is not desirable. I do not want to be wasted neither do I want to waste resources. What does the future hold?

It is time to work hard!
