Truly an UNCLE at heart...

I am so proud of myself for putting the Imeem device on my blog. Wahahha... I admit, I'm a nut at computer related matters. Sadly. I think that contributes to another aspect of me being an uncle or old man at heart. The clip on my blog is the song I sang on 97.2FM, 'ai de jiu shi ni'. It is pitchy. Give your comments! Shoot me! I wanna thank Ally for recording it for me. Thanks dude.

Next up for the uncle. To set up his Internet Banking Account. Shuan2 was mocking me for being so out-dated and still using the ATM to check my bank transactions. Wahahha... Thinking about it, I think so too... I need to UPGRADE! So she went to the ATM with me to set up my Internet Banking Account. I need to be more tech-savvy!

97.2FM live show!

Yeah! I think the 97.2FM live show is the last "gig", "performance" or "show" that I'll be doing for the year. The year is coming to an end and this year has been eventful. Hopefully, next year would be even better! Anyway, it was a great experience going on air. Indeed as Minhui said, Cai Leelian the Deejay made the whole atmosphere relaxed. And, I enjoyed the whole process of it. :) Coolz... Before the whole show, Edmund was so nervous... I could sense it all from his silence. But, everyone did well. Great! As for me, I shall improve... Improve on my diction, my Chinese, vocals... I said the phrase "chao ji xing guang da dao" with a STRONGLY accented american slang. I was shocked when I heard that coming out of my mouth through the headphones... And the rest started giggling. My elder bro kept playing back that part recorded on the radio, he finds it most amusing. Arggh... But, it was quite funny I thought. How did it happen!?!??!? Pics below...

Final rehearsal... Simin, the guitarist... Suave!

Couple shot... Simin and Edmund

In the mood for pictures! I was in a cheery mood... (Was Edmund meditating?)

Whats with the face, Edmund...

Me and Simin... Goodz!

Thats LeeLian the Deejay. And me singing!

This is a totally UNGLAM expression of myself.

What were we even happy about? Or smiley about?

Final pic... Singing with headphones and 2 microphones. :)

Many words of thanks...

The UOL-SIM pageant '07 has finally come to an end. And, I won! Yeah! Praise the Lord! I am glad I won. Who would want to join an event and not win right? :)

The very reason why I joined the pageant was to challenge myself. I wanted to challenge myself on my speech. And thank God on that very day, very stage, I answered the question confidently and fluently. :) I did put in some work on my speech also. Not only to challenge myself, I thought why not give the competition a shot. I was approached to join such a pageant in Junior College too, but I didn't. And, evofus had always encouraged me to join it. So, I did it. Thanks Wanping, Jasmine, Jiarong and Kelvin for the support throughout the competition!

There were a total of 28 people who came down to support me... I want to thank Jon Wong, Joel, Isaac, Geraldine, Roanna, Rochelle, Daniel, Karen, Matilda, Gail, Timothy, Diya, Carrie, Zijie... Minhui, Wendy, Simin and Edmund... Fabius, Loy and Khian Pang... Xingyu and friend (thanks a lot for all the advice, encouragement and really taking time off and the effort to come and support, even standing alone :)... Jasmine, Wanping and Kelvin... My brother and Xiaoping. Yilin who had wanted to come but couldn't make it in the end :( But it was quite sad that some of them came late and missed some parts, and couldn't really see what was happening nor hear the sound. :(

Also, I want to thank my SIM friends... The monday gang! My only friend, Cindy, with her buddy Tania for the words of encouragement. People in the pageant committee and all the pageant contestants! Friends who messaged me to encourage me... Helena (thanks for always being there and being concerned!) Simon, Sun Quan, Weiwei, Ereen, Clarice... Thanks! :)

Finally it is all over. And, I can have endless suppers, eat to my fill and not worry about my bod. Yeah!

I shall post up photos soon. Once again, thanks to all my friends... I felt I was doing this and I could do this because of all the support I have from all of you. Thank you!

Wedding Gig 161207 (Part 2)

I think I forgot to mention 2 things that I wanted to say...

I forgot to say that the wedding was a very small scale celebration, only 5 tables. Unlike the last wedding I went to... Panliang's wedding where there were I think at least 20 tables? So what I had imagined was different. Still... It was a good beginning. :)

I want to thank Cindy for sending me a sms of encouragement for the gig. Thanks my fren... I really appreciate such actions. :)

Lastly, pics below...

The team for the night! GIGERS... Myself, Edmund and Wendy.

We ate some of the 10-course dishes backstage, "Tou Tou Muo Muo"... I had very cold "Sharks Fin"...

-LeB-

My 1st Wedding Gig @ Fort Canning (The Legends)

I have attended quite a number of weddings, usually invited by friends from church or cousins. This time round, I went to a wedding but with a different purpose! I am a wedding GIGER... Ha! The new term coined by WangDaJie. "GIG-ER". And Edmund is the upcoming and going to be the best GIGER. Edmund totally rocked the night... So what if we played songs like "Shower me with your love", "Wonderful Tonight". I think Edmund really did well :) I personally like his guitar playing, very jazzy, very acoustic.

So what happened was... 1 week ago, Minhui asked me out of the blue if I can do a wedding gig. Err... Me? Playing for a wedding gig? Frankly speaking, I have no confidence in my keyboarding skills and I know I have a lot a lot to improve. Thus, I am really really thankful for these people around me who believe in me. Thank God :) Even though I've been really really busy, somehow I accepted the gig. And I got only even busier. But I told myself, this is what I want... This is what I've always been hoping for. To be a performer... to be paid for playing the keyboard. It really means something to me. I do not know whether my friends out there understand why I've been so busy and whether what I've been doing is worth... etc. But yeah, this was and is still what I've wanted. Next up, LOVEMEKNOT to be established!!!

At the wedding. It is really a joyous occasion to see someone getting married, throwing a celebration... no matter how small or big, it still is a celebration. And so, the whole occasion was a happy one :) I enjoyed myself in the presence of the celebration. However, I really didn't play well tonight. Sadly. I made major mistakes like PLAYING IN THE WRONG KEY!!! :( I felt I was saved by Edmund's "best performance" in his 26-yrs. Ha... I shall take it as a learning experience and IMPROVE! Wendy... You have that jazzy-blues feel in your singing. Good attempt on "Fly me to the moon" and "Close to You" :) Hopefully, I will have more opportunities and I would cherish every single one of them!

I spent quite a lot of time preparing on the gig and used a lot of resources... I didn't earn much cause I specially bought new clothes for the gig. BUT! The money earn is SPECIAL! I'm waiting for the money to come in man... Not because I'm in lack, but because its just simply my HARD-EARNED money... and not only that, earned by doing something I like! Way cool! :) :) :)

1.30am now and I'm feeling happy :)

Busy Busy Busy... My first wedding gig!

I have been so busy. Sometimes until the point that I don't know what I am exactly doing. I just do, do, do... go with the schedule, with the flow. And... Next week is just going to be worse. I skipped 1 and a 1/2 lecture this week. My plan next week is to attend 6 lectures, 2 more than the usual. Hopefully I'll be disciplined and focused enough to do so.

A midst all these busy-ness, Wangdajie asked me to do a wedding gig. I think we'll need to prepare 20songs. Thats a lot in a week! At least for me. However, such chances don't come by everytime and she encouraged me to do it. So, I'll be doing my first wedding gig on the 15th of Dec. Yeah! My first... Really hope we will bring greater joy to the wedding :) Looking forward to the gig. First time performing with Edmund also. :) Thanks Dajie and Simon for the opportunity!

Discipline... Determination... Focus...

new earphones!!!

Finally... After a search of a 'thousand years'. I got my new earphones! I have been searching high and low and contemplating a billion times. I decided that I should be decisive and not think anymore. And... TADA! I got my new earphones from sony :)

I guess sony is still a trustworthy brand afterall. Looks stylish and the sound quality is good :) The price is... ... "GOOD" also. At a cost of $89, I am officially broke. I guess... as we grow up, we tend to spend more money and on stuff that we would not last time. In the past my headphones/earphones are $40-$50 and I thought that was ex! My last earphones costed $59 and I remember Syl-vyn said that its too ex. And now, I'm spending even more. Well, I shall scrimp on my meals a little to make myself feel better. But if it gives me MAXIMUM listening pleasure, then I wouldn't mind spending that money. Nevertheless, its bought... So, HAPPY!

Tata!

I had really wanted to update on my Taiwan trip... BUT!!!

blogger is having some problems and I can't upload photos. So sad.

Lets shift focus a little...

Today was my first pageant training. The contestants went down to 'Shine Models' for training. For someone who used to harbour thoughts of being a model, pageant should be interesting and something to look forward to. Somehow, I do not feel that way. Instead, its becoming a chore... I guess cause I have "changed" and my focus is now on other matters. Still, I have decided to join this pageant and I shall do my best and make the fullest out of it. :)

We did catwalk and the choreography for the walk today. Complicated sequences for us to remember. Good thing I'm not the first or second in line. I'm the last! Wahahha... So I can just take the lead from the people in front. Cause of this pageant and my usual agendas, I am super packed this month... I can literally say I am packed to the brim. Next week there's a photo-shoot that includes a free hair-cut and styling. Wahaha... Hope it turns out good. I hate my bushy hair now. CUT IT!

Details of the pageant... Its on the 20th Dec @ Zouk. Tics are selling at abt $16-18, gotta confirm again. And! No swimwear... its beachwear. :) much better!

Apart from this pageant thingy, next week there are 2 camps lined up. My church's youth camp and children's camp. Usually every year I'll be involved or attending them; knowing whats going to happen. However, this year I seem so lost. I'll be helping out with the children's camp yet I don't know a single thing. Whats wrong? And for the youth camp, I can say that I won't be there. :(

Time management and Discipline... So important...

a short update...

haven't had the time to really update this space...

its the end of the year and Christmas is coming. Tis the season to be jolly, yet another yr has passed and its going to be a new beginning. I am back from Taiwan... a rather reflective trip with much bonding with my younger bro and cousins. What do I want? <-- A question that is constantly in my head.

Ever since I am back in S'pore, things just pile up. Packed schedules, lots of work to be done and lots I want to do. May I have the discipline to cope. I have neglected God and its time to turn back to Him.

I shall update on my Taiwan trip some time later :)

-LeB-

I'm leaving! I'm flying... and Frannie is back...

Yeah! I am flying in about 6hrs time... to Taiwan! My first time going there and I am all excited. It will be a time for me to just seat back, relax, enjoy and EAT! My schedule these days have been really quite packed, leaving me with little time to rest or reflect. I guess this is the time... :) And people have said a lot about the food, so... I'm very excited! A couple of people are asking for 'metal eggs', so I'll do my best to get them! Yeah! Flying again... I like the feeling of going to the airport and leaving on a plane :)

Just when I have travel plans, Dajie Frannie flew back to S'pore... Thank God that we had the time to meet her up and had supper together! She is... 10% more hongkonger now. Why? Her dress sense. Its not S'porean at all... Ha! but nice... However, her canto has only improved 1%? Still the same... Work harder Frannie! Miss ya Frannie and its great to see you again. I can see you are enjoying and eating well :P Wahhahah... I guess the next time round I'll see her would be in Hong Kong. Book the Hong Kong trip! :)

Some pics...

Quany, Diya and Frannie... :)

The sistas!

She loves Hokkien Mee!

I was a stalker for her legs... Her legs with boots. Cool!

Ok, the blog will be left untouched for a week... Its rest time for the blog too. Tata!

My 21st Birthday... Thanks All!

I have finally crossed over to adult-hood. I am officially 21 yrs old now. Beginning a new chapter in life. :) I didn't have a big party for my 21st birthday, but all was memorable. :) I had about 5 celebrations. 1st was with my relatives at my place, 2nd with some peeps from church @ Seoul Garden, 3rd a surprise mini-celebration @ Echo :), 4th dinner with my family and 5th steamboat with 'evofus' at my cozy place. 3 birthday cakes :) and some nice presents :) I thank everyone for all the well-wishes and blessings :) Pics and details below...

My first birthday 'cake' or rather, cookie-biscuit. My aunt suggested something different so we got this from Famous Amos. :)

My first birthday wish...

Celebration at Seoul Garden...

Chinny-chin chin (one of the few photos taken that day)

Group photo... (Roanna, Rochelle, Lebby, Chinny, Jonnie Wongie, Isaac and his beloved Geraldine)

For the mini suprise celebration, sadly I didn't take any pictures. I had really wanted to do so, but it was all too quick. Still, it was a really pleasant surprise! WendyMAMA came down to echo with the cake and they sang me a birthday song after my keyboard lesson. Thanks Simon, Wangdajie, Simin, Wendy, Denis and my students, Adeline and Weelin. :) The cake was rich!

Following that I had to leave almost immediately to meet my family for dinner at Spaggedies. A sumptuous dinner and after... I went for supper. Crab and drinks with the Echo Family again... Ha... We just eat and eat and eat :) It was great companionship and I am really glad and thankful to have known this bunch of people. :) Thank you and thank God! I hope these friendships stay for life. Minhui sent me a birthday sms that day and it was long! And meaningful :) I am looking forward to the HongKong trip!

Cont... ... ... ...

Steamboat at my place! We had quite a spread... Thanks Syl-vyn for the beef :)

Steamboat, steamboat...

Group pic at 8.20pm when 2 people arrived 1hr and 20mins late... :P

My 3rd cake! They were shocked at how the cake looked... Its a durian cake from 'Angie the Choice'. Real nice! (Apparently Xuan said that the cake can't be too cheapo cause I wouldn't like... Ha! Good things come in expensive prices...) The cake was a great choice!

My 3rd birthday cake! I wonder what is it supposed to signify? Maturity? An old 'ang-moh'?

Whats a party without PARTY HATS and BALLOONS? Singing the birthday song... :)

Poor old man...

They were up to another 'surprise'...

The 'surprise' revealed! They made a photo album for me! :) Thanks... (Its a tradition for all the 21st birthday peeps to have a big card or something memorable)

A sneak preview of the album :) (Grammatical Mistake! Not 'Birthdays Gathering' but 'Birthday Gatherings') Must have been done my Jiarong...
The picture of the year! (Whats spider-man doing there? Answer the million-dollar question!)

Group pic with my presents :) :) :)

My brother was the camera boy... And the 4 flowers wanted to take a pic with the, now grown-up boy...

Final Group Pic for the day! Thanks Evofus and 2 hunkies for everything :)
To: Xuan, Aloy, Jiarong, Kelvin, Wanping & Jasmine... You all have been such a part of my life. Ever since the JC days... I felt so lonely(*shy*) at first in JJC 'cause the class has so many girls and no one else I knew. I was the only person from my secondary school to go JJC. Thinking of it, its kinda crazy. Staying at Braddell and travelling to Boon Lay to study. Still, I don't regret this decision... God must have had a purpose for everything that happened. And I am glad to have met all of you. The days of craziness, of recordings and performances, of 'trying' to mug together, getting our butts smacked by Xuan Xuan... etc etc. Thanks for all these years of friendship and many more to come. I am also glad that Kelvin and Aloy is already a part of us! :) Kelvin especially... so integrated into the group. Ha! Friends for life!
My pressies... !

A gift from a friend of 1month plus! I am really happy and surprised. Thanks for the effort... :) Thanks Cindy, although you are a 'new' friend, what you did is really WOW! The words on the card, together with the piano background and lamination really touched me! Thanks for the CD too!

Ang Paos and a Teletubbies card from my relatives and Cousins...

A T-shirt from Rochelle (Ro-Share-La as my younger brother pronounces her name)...
Another surprise I got when receiving this present. Last friday was my badminton session with Minhui and Wendy... I don't really have my own badminton racket so I would borrow from Minhui. And this week, she passed this racket to me to use. I just took it and used without suspecting ANYTHING! I thought its some 'power' racket that she has kept and would only use it for special purposes. How dumb of me... Whats more, the plastic was still unwrapped. Then halfway through the game, Minhui said I can remove the plastic, the racket is mine anyway! Ha! Then my jaws dropped. Came as a real surprise! Yonex Musclepower... Haha... Thanks! The gift is really handy :) Thanks to (Simon, Minhui, Edmund, Simin and Wendy)
A quote I got: 朋友是我一生最大的一笔财富,永远不会放弃!

Gift from Roanna, Yizhen and Sharon... Pedro Voucher! I can get my white shoes already!

3/4 of the gift from EVOFUS... 1/4 still in the making. Aiming to be a tennis pro! :) Thanks!
